View Full Version : RVAE34's Alpine goodness on ebay....

Thought I would share what I came across on fleabay, such a nice ride up for grabs.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-5-Series-525i-1992-BMW-E34-M52-TURBO-525i-5-Speed-3-46-LSD-WHITE-BLACK-343-RWHP-WELL-DONE-/160971714252?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item257aa96ecc#ht_1531wt_1047
Wish I had more money and less problems....

And it seems he went even further with it. LSD and new steering wheel.

Still kind of a shame to see it be resold so quickly. How feel you, Brandon? Did you know he planned on flipping it?

I had no idea. Never heard from him again after he had taken ownership. Doesn't bother me at all. Whoever buys it is getting an awesome car that was done right.

I don't get it. So this was some kind of impulse purchase? :confused He buys the car a few months ago after presumably paying top dollar for it, gets it to TX from VA, and is now selling it because "wife wants an M3 vert" and he "can't keep everything."
Does no one just get smitten by a car anymore? Brandon built the car to perfection, got bored with it, and sold it to get another project going. This buyer gets it halfway across the country, adds the LSD and steering wheel, (talk about gilding the lily) and decides to dump it just a few months later.
My own car isn't anywhere near as nicely done as this one, and isn't worth a fraction of the money, but I love it and don't plan to sell it ever. Good thing cars don't have feelings, or this Alpinweiss would be in a blue mood.

Wow... can't believe its for sale already! I can vouch for this one if anyone here is interested. Worth every dime and would be difficult to replicate for that price. Would have cost less to buy than to build my Msports + I still don't have heated seats!

Thanks, Tim. Wish we could have run them against eachother.
My best guess would be that since the new owner doesn't do his own work, he might just not have felt like messing with it. I imagine if he took it in for anything, people were scratching their heads. It really was pretty simple though. And I built it to be reliable as a DD so it shouldn't have needed anything for quite some time.

Sound like classic rationalization to me.
I can't really talk too much; I sold my 635 nine months after purchase when I told the PO I would keep it forever. At least I had it for nine months, though.....
Does no one just get smitten by a car anymore?
You'll be pleased to hear that after with each little fix I do on my car, I'm freshly reminded of a what a jewel the E34 really is. In other words, after my car repair adventure yesterday, in spite of the fact that the shimmy persists, it re-smote me. :D

Yea.. I know, right? Maybe we can hook up before Bimmerfest this year and you can drive it down some familiar roads to see how it compares to what you remember.

I don't think you guys realize how clean this car is .... I saw her a bimmerfest east and am not surprised at the prize by the condition of the car
Obviously not something I would drop 19k on but if I won the lotto I would scope this beauty up real quick
Not to mention this car is posted as sale pictures in a couple magazines (bav auto) and on the retrofit source for there headlights

'96 993 twin turbo for 15 years
'66 330 gt for 12 years
'84 BBi for 8 years
they'll bury me in my '57 Speedster
but I've already got 3 cars parked in the circle drive the E34, my '94 E500-owed for 5 years, and the RR...
Thanks, Tim. Wish we could have run them against eachother.

I've got the best mechanic in DFW IMO so the upkeep is not relevant nor the expense.....just replaced the ORIGINAL auxiliary water pump--the one by the firewall with all the hoses....only couple hundred for that....pulled the windshield and replaced the seal as original was cracked and worn...couple hundred for that...now it's fully sorted as is everything in my collection...the car was well done to start with.....
not the cheapest E34 out there--but one of the best..depends on what u want in your collection people....
You did well on your sale then. Well done. But can it happen twice?
who knows? yes seller got top dollar, but I'm not one to argue over a couple thousand if I want something....could always keep it as I'm not going to give it away and truth be told...it's a hell of a lot more fun than the E500...and now with the 3:46, it really sings in all the gears and stays on power all the time given the RPM.....

Just to be clearer than above - there is a spam control in place in the forum to prevent bots from plaguing us. It requires you to have a minimum number of posts (10 I believe, but it might be 20 - it's been a while) before you can link to pics or attach them. Also, it is preferred to link to a pic hosted on an external site, like imageshack, photobucket, or another like them. I prefer photobucket myself, as they include the properly formatted tags to allow you to copy paste the link directly into the forum, and uploading pics is instant if your internet connection is fast.

You're asking enough for this car that you really should disclose the fact that a rear quarter was replaced...the high dollar E34 market is thin, this isn't even close to an original example (hey, I contributed parts content to it), but mint or not it's a pretty big thing to leave in the dark.

Not only did RVAE34 own it for (7+ years?) He practically build the entire car himself!

Maybe.... but when you consider how much attention and detail went into building this car and the fact that it will smoke M5's and Corvettes; it puts this car into a whole different league altogether. It's not your grandma's 525i
Worth every dime IMHO. $16900 is a deal!
