Just picked up a 1994 540ia with 166,000 miles for my DD this weekend. After getting it off the trailer I was sitting down going through the receipts the owner gave me and found out it had a new engine put in it at 100,000. So my engine only has 66,000 miles on it!:D

It needs a little TLC. It was a TX/NM/AZ car so the clear coat is coming off the hood so it's not the prettiest right now...but there is not a single piece of rust on it.

These are ones the previous owner had taken of it.

I'll get more up as I clean it up. It was pretty dirty.

I'm in Toledo. I picked it from Dayton.

engine replacement was due to the nikasil problem. google it, youll see what im talking about. The new engine has alusil lined cylinders and it is fairly common to see the replacement done.

I saw there was some concern regarding the nikasil engines but never thought it was that common of a problem. I'll have to do some more reading.

I've got to keep my Excursion. That is what I do all my heavy lifting with...like towing this back.

The previous owner also had the original window sticker in the file. $48,000 new! I didn't realize these things went for that back then.
