What am I missing in the open space behind rear window where top meets the side body.

I am trying to figure out why the seal does not go all the way to the edge of the top here. Am I missing something?

it is a small piece of weather stripping made of rubber you can buy separately from the dealership

It's actually part of the whole rear seal between the soft top and the tonneau cover. If you need a diagram I can find it for you on realoem. I think it was something like $40 when I got it. The only part I haven't figured out is how to attach the end of that seal to the soft top. It slides over the little tabs but doesn't have any method of adhering. I've tried silicone but will most likely go with epoxy.

I used to have the rest of the seal but cut it off as it was not attached and sticking out the side. Should the end of it (that I cut off) have attached to anything?

This is the biggest reason I don't take my car through an auto car wash...
