Fuel Injector Failure after 5 weeks
Has anyone had a Fuel Injector Failure on a 2013 BMW 328I after only 5 weeks from purchasing? Started to Idle poorly, then engine noted Power Train issue and to drive moderately. Then engine basically shut down. Dealership says it's a Fuel Injector Failure and the part has to be ordered from Germany. How can a Fuel Injector fail on a new car after only 5 weeks? Way too much money spent to start off this way on a new vehicle.

Manufacturing defects are very common, remember these parts are mass produced, it's inevitable for a small number of parts to have problems, it's unfortunate you have a new car with a problem, but don't condem the rest of the car, theses issues are rare an Likley u won't see other issues for awhile.

Overall the N20 (your engine) have been really good. It shares the same fuel injectors with the N55 (updated single turbo 6 cylinder) and I have only seen a few fail. The fact that the part is coming out of Germany typically indicates that it's failure is rare. Hopefully they can get you back on the road quickly. The 328I is one of my favorite cars because of the power and fuel economy.

From what I heard it is a filter problem with the injector. They having a problem with them and they are coming from Germany cause you aren't the only one with this problem.
Do realize, your car is made up of hundreds upon hundreds of parts. One failed. You are worried that your car has a less than 1% failure rate of its parts. Maybe you are just feeling buyers remorse.

We haven't seen one yet (smaller dealership) but I don't doubt it. I've seen a 2013 x3 n20 powered destroy a JBE and after the replacement of that component, the warning messages have all returned and the steering wheel has locked.
Didn't realize you were a guinea pig for a first model year engine?

Seeing the DME controls the engine not the JBE, not sure what you are getting at in reference to the N20.

E34 was just saying even brand new cars have issues, either with engine parts or electrical parts

Took delivery in August 2014.. 6 weeks later (yesterday) injector failed..now with dealer..has anyone experienced a chirping noise coming from the engine when accelerating...only when pushing down on acceleratetor..once you lift your foot off the noise goes away...this can happen at any revs and the car can be stationery or on the move..no difference. Thanks Mike

Sorry for the revival of an old thread:\ My f30 makes this little ticking sound it is louder when it is cold but it still makes it when warm. i made my mother get the same car because it is so great!!! however her car same 2013 328xi i don't hear it. it isn't the diesel sound... or lifter tick.. i know it must be injectors it isn't linked to rpm. I hear it in the cabin one click on the radio volume will cover it up. normal? or will they replace them if i complain about the exact issue i have a cpo till 2018.

I just bought a used 2013 328i a few weeks ago, went to the dealer to get the maintenance history on the vehicle, and it showed a fuel injector was replaced at some point within the first year of service. Nothing since with the injectors.

I subscribe to a website called "True Delta" which uses community-provided data to attempt to draw reliability statistics regarding car models. Quarterly, you enter any repair information on your car, and the mileage. My 2013 328i has literally been perfect, no issues whatsoever in 30,000 miles since new. But whenever an updated survey comes out, I read through the submissions by other owners to see what I might expect to happen to the car. So far, this injector issue is the primary issue with the engine. The other one that seems to crop up again and again is with the tail lights, which apparently are clipped in and the clips break. If that's the worst thing to affect these cars, then we'll be in good shape.
