hey guys i recently just bought bbs rs wheels , which are 17x7.5 +20in the front and 17x8.5 +20 in the rear, i want to strech tires on them but not sure of the right profile been doing some research and found 215/35 tires would fit well on the rear and 205/35 on the front with a little strech but not sure what it would look like as i do not want to go over the top anyone got any pictures or know much about stretch tires? thanks

Why would you want LESS traction with smaller tires??Saving a few $$ would be the only positive point.

Less traction than what? He has a 318i ... thing had 185s stock ... it has all of 110 horsepower ... it wont ever break traction on 215s either.

LOL. You actually want your wheels and tires to look like that?

A 35 profile would make for a horribly small diameter. Maybe look at 205/40 and 215/40.

The only "stretch tires question" should be, "why?"

He's right , I don't even break traction or even close to it, what's the difference between 35 ad 40?

Are you guys drag racers?!, try autocrossing, you'll learn about real traction. 35 is 5% lower sidewall than 40(sidewall aspect ratio)

He has a 115 horsepower, and had 185s (or 205s at most) stock. He wants a more agressive wheel; I don't think he's looking to break any land speed records ... a 215 is still wider than what he had.
Not everyone autocrosses ... some of us you know ... just drive our cars on a day to day basis in stop and go traffic, where it doesn't matter if you got 275s or 205s.
ps. If I wanted to beat my car up in a parking lot, I'd have a lot more fun with a baseball bat.

To ALL THE GENIUSES who think it's all about a tire's width, you have no idea how wrong you are. For starters "stretching" a tire is VERY dangerous as it severely alters a tire's handling and reliability. Next, and probably most importantly, there's the failure issue due to an altered sidewall geometry resulting in lower sidewall compliance. This is an issue normally recognized about 1/10 second after the sideall collapses and the bead breaks it's seal. The end result is a collision of some sort or another. Finally, LOAD CAPACITY. A 195/65-15 tire has a load rating of about 1275lb, while a 205/35-17 is about 1100lbs. Should I even bother to mention the pitfalls of improper rolling diameter and the negative effects it has on suspension geometry and powertrain wear? So to all those who think it's all about "looks", let me know how it looks when the tire fails and you crash into the nearest object.
