Hi, I have a question about the "cyclone filter" that is in line from the exaust manifold to the diaphragm valve then to the carburator, there is a section of braided flex hose a couple of inches up from the exaust manifold, I was wondering if anybody can tell me if this is supposed to be air tight or should it allow gasses to escape thru the braiding. The one on my car seems to let exaust to bleed thru the braid, If someone has an answer please let me know. Thanks, Bill

P.S. Does anybody know how the cyclone filter is attached to the intake manifold? mine just seems to hang there between the intake and the starter.

How old is it? I had some similar stuff happen and it turned out the hose was old and had degraded. New hose, no bleed.

Hi, as far as I know this is an original part, I would like to replace it except for one problem, It is really stuck inside the cyclone filter where it slides into the socket at the screw down fitting, no amount of liquid wrench, torch, or pounding on it will make it come loose so I would probably have to buy a new filter and those are not cheap. I was told to wrap a piece of "muffler bandage " around the flex area and it will harden and seal it up forever, I might try this or just break down and find a new filter. Bill
