So, I'm gonna throw this out there:
Toss some aluminum heads on there to save about 50 lbs (and add up to 100 horsepower).

There's no way, but the idiot in me is trying to be gullible.

You will save quite a bit of weight with alum. heads on a v8.. and make power, but 100hp ya fucking right.. idk what motor..

but if I EVER do a v8 swap the only option is the LSx series, they are already all aluminum..

Ya I wasn't considering going with the 5.0 but I read this and was like, pffftt. Nooooo

I really believe they are leaving out the cam and heads. Most people that swap to really nice aluminum heads do an aggressive cam at the same time. Then you're looking at an easy 100whp on most small blocks. Plus a nice cam is nothing dollar wise if you just bought some nice heads.

I have also seen some people on the ls1 forum make 80whp from just heads. You have to remember they already had aggressive cams and really good flowing intakes and exhaust so the heads were their limiting factor.

On another side note I have seen a dyno of a 5.0 make almost 100whp from nice heads but it may have had a massive turbo strapped to it;)

Ls1 is so gosh darn expensive.
I don't want to swap if its over my current mileage of 125k.

I would'nt dare put a 5.0. It doesnt sound natural in these cars.

I personally don't think the 5.0L is too bad. Not sure if it is really worth it though.

Don't buy the new 5.0 when the 3.5L Duramax V6 DOHC and variable valve timing out of a Taurus will out run them all day everyday and its a V6...... (LOL @ mustang or Ford in general!!)

Might not be the motor itself might be the gear ratios the mustang might have long gear ratios to reach higher speed thus losing acceleration the Taurus might be quick but a low top speed or could be a combination of both

Sounds like the guy that tried to out run the cops here the other night. Stole a Mustang in Illinois, headed north into Wisconsin, got 3 counties in before a county squad tried to pull him over. Because the cop had a Crown Vic, he thought he out run him. He hit 3 sets of stop sticks in 2 of the counties and finally got out of the car when he got to Green Bay and was running on the rims. They said he never shut and wanted to know if he broke any records on the length of his chase.?

About 2 hours I would say. I'm on the north west side of nj (Rulers of Route 80). There are a few ones close by but no more than 30 cars. You get some big numbers the closer you get to NY ^_^
