Can you get a car CPO'ed?

I'm looking at buying a e90 or e60 with about 60-80k on the clock and I was wondering if you could buy one from a private party or wholesale dealer and take it to your local Bmw center and have it certified as a CPO or is buying a CPO from the Bmw dealer the only way to get a certified car with the warranty?
