Bought a used 2003 Mini Cooper with automatic transmission (CVT) with 95K miles.
It is the second day of ownership and it is clear that there is an issue with the CVT. The engine sounds healthy and smooth but the acceleration is best described as "surging" until about 20 to 30 MPH. At speed the car feels and sounds "normal". When coming to a stop there seems to be excessive transmission "drag" below 10 MPH, meaning car does not role freely like normal. Also there is a faint "wining" sound coming from the general engine bay area during idle.
I'm not sure if the transmission oil or filters have ever been changed as there is no way to verify this.
Any insight or advise into this issue is appreciated.
Thanks. A.
