necessary or not?
Want to do my tension straps but have a headliner. Any shame in removing? Will mostly be driven top down (assuming I can keep the top motor working).

I took mine out. I do not miss it. It looks like this:

You could reinstall it once you take it off if you wanted to. I just got one from topsonline for $170.
For the tension straps, there are many mods that are cheaper than replacing the $400+ straps. I'm currently using the bike tube mod.

Moding/repairing the tension straps does not require removal of the headlliner. You only have to remove it if you are doing a full replacement of the straps.
