Why would it "crap out"? Valeo has made probably half of all clutches and flywheels ever made ... a clutch is a clutch is a clutch. Just because it's a single mass flywheel that's new to an M3 doesn't make it any different than any other flywheel/clutch setup. :dunno
edit: A clutch is only as good as it's driver. I can destroy one in 2 minutes without ever moving the car a foot or drive on it for half a million miles, no matter who the manufacturer is.

How quickly the clutch craps out is relative to how you drive on it. Valeo is one of BMW's parts suppliers.

alright good to know. i was under the impression valeo was cheap. becasue of price... aswell as the combination of there being a lack of reviews or good things to be said about them. so that was the major thing i was intrested in was just to hear of some ones experiences with this product. i didnt know if it would be a waste of money in the long run or if its worth the pretty penny that it costs. im a college student with not much money so tax return time means car maintinance time. so im just trying to figure out what i need and what can wait. i feel that a clutch should be #1 so just some insite into the product would be awsome
thanks Mike

Valeo is both a oe and oem supplier.... Not cheaper.
Valeo alternators in the e36 suck however, crappy design

Recently ordered a valeo kit as well. It comes with pilot and throw out bearings. Is there any reason I should use other bearings?

IF you decide to use bearings not included with the kit, make sure you measure the dimensions first. I have read the Dual Mass flywheel throwout bearing is a different height and can cause issues when used with single mass clutch kits.

I got this kit last May. Ive done 2 track days and countless autox's on it since then. It does just fine. There is just a little less refinement due to getting rid of the dual mass flywheel. If I had to do it all over again I would probably get the F1 Clutch kit from eBay. Lighter flywheel with plenty of track guys to prove it can take the abuse.

Interesting. What is less refined? The lack of absorption? Did you go with the bearings in the kit?

I forget what I got with the kit. Theres a little bit of chatter with low RPM engagement, some gear rattle (remedied with thicker trans fluid), and some more vibrations if you lug the engine at all. Nothing serious. Just all the reasons BMW went with a dual-mass.
Keep in mind I also broke it in on the track at NJMP. Or if you want to count the 40 miles driving to the track.

May want to weigh the pro's and cons' of DMF -> SMF conversions.

i don't autocross or track my e36. but I'm happy with my Valeo kit. At least a year on it and no issues yet.
On OP's question, I believe we installed the bearing from the kit. Had a local shop do the install for me so I don't specifically recall.
