Are these cars really going for this much now?

New Zealand number plates and Jerry Clayton is a local BMW dealer here. Has this one spent some time in New Zealand?

What someone is trying to get and what they will get are 2 entirely different things.

Due to the rarity, I dont think this is overpriced. It's not like you will find a better deal for one of these...

Well I can believe that no one has pointed this out. but did you check out the 5-6 80's speakers that someone cut into the door panels, and that cheeeeeessseee..... eq that is in the center console. I have never seen one of these in person but I dont believe that those speakers are any way close to being factory, are they?

I was looking at that too ... made me wonder so I did some googling. Seems that they all had speakers in the doors, but the 2 middle Blaupaunkt speakers that one has are definitely not stock. Seems to be one black grille there on others ... can't say I see one other one with the EQ but who knows.
Either way, nice car, but a bit pricey.

Ouch. At 400k, that car will sit forever.

Not all of it is factory, but looks quite period correct, though. IMO that stereo system actually looks so pure 80s that it fits that thing like a glove. :alright
I much rather see those than some modern touchscreen stuff with billion 15" subs, multiple TVs, Playstations and what nots in there. :rolleyes
Price? Well... There needs to be some kind of starting point for negotiations. :shifty

Very cool. Thanks for posting!
Unless some new millionare with deep pockets wants the M1 urgently and there are no others available at the moment then this will sell for that price.
I doubt it will even sell for half of that price.

I remember drooling over one of these in red when new in the showroom (I was maybe 10 or 11), I guess a love a love affair has to start at some point.
Thanks for posting

Maybe I've been watching too much Pawn Stars, but just because something is rare doesn't make it valuable. If it's worth that much, I wonder if it'll show up in some exotic car auction someday?

I saw one on eBay a while ago, maybe a year and a half or so...sold, or rather the auction ended at, just over $175,000. Never looked to see if was relisted due to a non-paying buyer or something though...
Curious if anyone knows are the M1 spare parts still available from BMW ??
Or how/where the owners obtain them if any required.
If not available from BMW that migh be a big problem.
