I've been looking at mods for my 2007 BMW 335i (6 SPD :alright) and one that is of interest is the CIC conversion (except for the price of course).

I use my iPhone to make calls, and listen to lots of music (I commute 2 hours each day, each way, to work). As I understand the retrofit, you get a bunch of features that were not formally available (assuming the replacement unit you purchased has all the features available and enabled). Has anyone had first hand experience from this type of retrofit, and if so, was it worth it? I have enough experience working on the car, and computers (I'm a SA), that I can do the work myself (up until the activation and coding).

Thoughts, suggestions, ideas... ? :confused

Knew a guy locally that upgraded from CCC to CIC on his M3. I talked to him a little bit about the conversion, to me it seemed like a lot of work, and a lot of parts to change for a slight change in function.

From what I recall, it requires:
New display screen
New iDrive controller
New center trim to accommodate iDrive controller
New head unit
Misc cables...
Coding

I would guess it would cost anywhere from $2000+ depending if you bought everything new, or found it from a donor car. And then how much you do yourself vs hire someone to do.
