I'm a newbie here... I just got a 2012 535x, and I noticed that there's no rear fog light button under the front fog light. I'm guessing there's a way to turn it on but I'm not sure how.

US spec cars are not fitted with the button. its not needed in USA.

we had an asian customer with a 535 that simply went on ebay ( europe, england) and purchased a Light switch module from a euro car.. he installed it and it works like it should.

he said it didnt even need coding because its just a switch.

With the E90s you can shave off the tabs on the switch and with a pen cap and nickel you can get the rear fogs to work. I used legos instead of a pen cap and nickel and it works fine.

I see now, I think I'll go buy one and switch it out. Thanks.

So true. I have seen some Audi's that have them, and people put them on ALL THE TIME. Super annoying when its not foggy or raining.

This.

I've also heard of people getting tickets for a "taillight out" on some cars that only had 1 rear fog (older Audis and Mercedes) in instances when they were actually being used in *gasp* fog... the law enforcement here is clueless as to what they are. :lol

What about those people in Mercs that somehow turn on their rear brake lights while driving.

??? I don't know what they are doing but I pulled up next to a c230 komp and told the douche his rear brake lights were stuck on. He said they are supposed to be like that and he has a switch for them. I used to see a lot like that a few years ago.

I :confusedly drove off

Those are rear fog lights. They are very helpful in heavy fog to keep people from plowing into you, but very obnoxious in all other driving conditions.

Thank you, all, I have noticed Merc's and Audi's for years having one brake light "stuck on" and had assumed it was an electrical glitch in German cars, now I get it!!.
