My neighbor just but this mini and wants HIDS. Are the kits plug and play or do you need to get the car recoded.

When upgrading to the OEM HIDs on a halogen vehicle, recoding is required for proper operation and so that there's no incorrect warnings on the dash / instrument cluster.
