Had a chance to test out the xDrive in my '08 328xi E92 this afternoon here in MI. It handled quite nicely with the 2-3" that were on the ground at the time, along with the road slush that had built up throughout the day. One thing I had to do, for obvious reasons, was change my driving habits that I normal exhibit in dry conditions. No more mashing on the gas! I did give it a chance to kick the back end out around a corner, but the front wheels quickly engaged and helps to correct it.

I can hear the plow/salt trucks out now getting the roads cleared for tomorrow. It's been snowing since 2pm yesterday, and it's not supposed to stop until 8am today!

I am waiting for this as well. We have a huge parking lot at my office and its empty right now for the holiday season. This is the only opportunity I will get before everyone comes back in Jan.

Awesome... we don't have the luxury of snow down here, but so we take advantage of our xi drivetrains when it's raining.

We got nailed pretty hard over here too with freezing rain and then snow. X drive worked pretty well yesterday but the roads were just too horrible to even attempt to test it. The only people able to go over 40 on the highway were the 4x4 trucks. I did notice some other trucks and cars lose a lot of traction while I was smooth sailing.

I am perfectly happy with my RWD. It is slower to get going but the traction control does a good job and I haven't been stuck yet in 10 years of driving in the lake effect snow region off of lake Erie. I have driven the e38 through unplowed roads that had 10+ inches of in them, the key is always just to keep moving, if you can do that it eliminates most of the difficulties of winter driving.

I would imagine a proper new computerized awd setup would work wonders in the snow. The simple 4x4 setup in my Jeep however is extremely skidish and unpredictable on ice and in snow, the Jeep spends most of its winter in the garage.

dudes you guys are lucky, i've never seen snow. If it does, i'll leave the 325i at home and go with the other rides, i dont know how to drive on ice.

If I owned a 4x4 Jeep,it would only be used for snow!?
