I have a 2000 740iL that is running like it has a miss in it and if you press the gas it has nothing, goes into engine fail safe prog and all the readers I have ( PEake and OBD2 universal) give me a throttle output final stage error. We replaced the TB and the pedal and I was told I need to align them like EWS.

Will this $30 coder do the deed? If not what DO I need? Also I would prefer one that will allow me to tinker with my E30 S52 DME and change rev limit etc.

But that's not a big deal fixing the 7 is top priority.

Please advise coding guru's!

Were the errors before or after. Im thinking you may need to reset the dme adaptations. INPA can do this.

The pasoft scanner is decent for a lot of things but uses a cable that is specifically for pasoft and nothing else. Same is true that a regular obd 2 cable wont work with it.

For tweaking the dme you need something that will dump the dme binary then also reflash it. Check our tunerpro and galetto cable/software.

Really trying to avoid getting a GT1 but it is looking like that is the only one and done setup.

Is INPA the ONLY way to clear the DME adaptations? Would those values trigger engine failsafe mode?

What tool would you guys recommend for around $$40-100?

I'm not sure if its the ONLY way, but its all I'm aware of. I haven't used anything but the BMW software.

You might try this. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showpost.php?p=25670846&postcount=9

Its a tb re-initialization procedure and might get you out of your bind.

Also, in regards to the 40-100 tool, there is a thread on BMTechnic going on right now that might give you an easy install for all the BMW software with an interface you could use. I don't know first hand how good it is, but other seems to say its pretty good. I would look into that if you don't want to deal with the "GT1" software install and all that entails.

Does their tool code EWS? I want to be able to align modules and also disable it in some DME's

There tool is no different than the software you can get here. Apparently they have just made it a very easy install so you'll basically have INPA, DIS, SSS, NCS, WINKFP.

Aligning the ews can be done on some cars with early versions of ews, but some later versions (EWS III) you cannot. DIS can align the EWS for those cars that have earlier versions of ews.

Disabling it all together cannot be done with the BMW software and prob not much anything else available either. I believe you have to get down to the hardware level to do that, but I'm not sure.

Did you try the throttle body init procedure in that link?
