so what exactly are the front and rear panels made out of? i thought they were a fiberglass but dont seem to be like they are. so i have 4 front door panels and 4 rear panels right now. all the panels are trashed pretty much. everything needs to be reupholstered. so im thinking of taking off the leather on the panels and door cards and rear cards. using small screws to screw everything in together even the plasitc strips in the back. then laying down some fiber glass or bondo. getting everything smooth then priming and painting it. i dont want glassed panels but im thinking of a more matte look so it kinda at least matches my interior. this would keep me from ever having to worry bout the glue coming undone anymore or strips in the back coming loose. has anyone done this at all? ive done paint and body work in the past so i know this is one hell of a project.

They are pressed wood shavings.

The best way to attach the parts on the rear is with Gorilla Glue or 3M window Weld. Make sure you use clamps. Use either of those 2 products with camps and those parts will never ever come off again unless they take a piece of the door card with them. Hot glue, contact cement and all the others do NOT last. Some only last a few days. Do it right the first time.

I used contact cement, then went around the edges with some loctite shit.. idk exactly what it's called, but if you can get the strips off then you are a beast, or half the other side of the panel is coming with it. My fronts have held up perfectly, I just finished my lateral cards the other day, letting the cement setup and going back in tomorrow probably..

as for the bondo smooth painted idea.. too ricey for me. I would look for a set of clean un destroyed cards to replace your oem ones with. Keep it clean.

so if i try doing the reupholstery myself to the whole complete door panel what is the best stuff to use. that will hold and not let the new vinyl or fabric come up? so your saying use gorilla glue or window weld to reattach the plastic pieces and door card to the panel itself right?

yea i thought it over im not gonna paint the door panels it wouldnt look right. my problem with my door panels is the leatherette is coming off the whole door panel itself. so i really need to just get some vinyl that stretches and reupholster the complete door panel itself and door card. ive never done this before and havent found a diy on doing a complete door panel.

Man an entire panel would be tough.. I had a hard enough time with just the cards. Good luck to you if you attempt it. I'm pretty good with upholstery stuff so if you need any tips just pm me.

My door cards are probably coming out this weekend and I'm going to make aluminum door skins haha.
