Anyone else had the issue of the cover on the steering wheel peeling issue? I was considering peeling it all off. Has anyone done that or have any other recommendations ?

Yes, there have been several posts on this issue. My plan is to remove the old flaky stuff and repainting it with some SEM interior paint.

yep, seen loads of interior parts peel. if you peel it all off, it will leave a nice gloss finish.

Steering wheel center cover is just the beginning, everything else with soft touch paint will start to peel eventually. Repaint it, cover with Di-Noc, dip it, buy a new one, plenty of options.

My shift nob started peeling but haven't had any problem with the wheel.

Mine isn't peeling...yet...fingers crossed. However the soft touch rubber area is scratched a little from the previous owner. Not a big deal, just hoping none of it gets worse. What about anyone center consoles next to the seatbelts or their rear passenger air vent/ashtray? Mine are looking rough. It seems that BMW's idea of soft touch plastics just didn't work, it would've been a nice one.
Noticed Faults looking at cars:
Steering wheel
Center console all around
All door handles (excluding driver)
Cup holders
Cup holder trim panel
My cup holders, cup holder trim panel, passenger side door handle, and center console are what's scratched the worst in terms of peeling. All previous owner too. I know you can order new cup holder covers with the silver push button area tab thing and can also buy the panel that surrounds that area. Not too expensive. A little worried about the passenger door handle though ($9). Center console is $400. Too expensive to replace in my opinion. I'll just finish scraping the soft touch rubber when I'm stuck in traffic.

well known issue and was originally taken care of under warranty. Also, driver side interior door handle was pealing and replaced by the dealer...

so the peeling steering wheel is covered by the original warranty? Its not wear and tear? and how do they fix it, by replacing the entire steering wheel?
May be visting the dealer..

it is covered, the trim is replaceable seperately after removing the airbag. i would look over the entire vehicle noting peeling if you are visiting the dealer i.e. interior door handles, and center console.

Are you saying they will cover it completely no matter what? I have an 07 328i with 125,000 miles. Will it be covered?
