View Full Version : Pic request! Arktisgrau E34 on M-pars!

Leonator134

Hello all, My Akrtisgrau 540/6 currently sits on the stock honeycombs and will be on its winter wheels by the end of this week. However, I love M-pars and kind of want to put some on when it's time to take the winters off.

So, does anyone have any pictures of their/ or any Akrtis E34s on M-pars? I searched and looked through several pages of our" Your E34 as it sits" thread and didn't see any!
Thanks!
Leo

Do a search for AndrewH's 530i. If it's not Arktisgrau, it's pretty close, and he had M-pars on there for a time.

His is sterling. Any e34 looks good on mpars regardless of body color. Unless 4x4 status occurs.

True. I just wanted to get a sense as to how mine would look because I don't think I've ever seen one!

There's a reason everyone runs them and other nice looking wheels. Plus in the real world (ie not the forum) how often do you see Mpars/style 5's/etc on an e34, pretty much never.

Thanks for proving my point brah. I went more unique with the e36 wheels due to the sheer fact that so many people have e36's. Upgraded stock wheels are fine on the e34 and look great imo.

I've never seen M-pars on an E34 :( Only on E38s which are still mighty cool.

And E39s.

The Cape E34s all wear their factory shoes.

Hey, if I find a nice set of JDM style wheels that I think would look good on her, I'd go for it. It is just that for 18" OEM BMW wheels, I don't think there is anything nicer or more appropriate for our vehicles (unless there is such a thing as factory staggered 18" style 5's)

I went from staggered Style 5's to staggered T-Stars, and then moved on to the M-Pars. The car really feels like it is best suited for them, oddly enough.

Anyways, wasn't taken back by your comment. Just wanted to explain why I in particular have them. :P

As nice as your car is, you don't want to run a set that isn't near perfect. Really nice wheels will make a car; even cars that are not so perfect look ten times better with wheels that are not trashed (scratched, rashed, etc...).

....and by the time you refinish/repair a set of not-so-perfect wheels, you will be into them for more than if you simply bought a really nice set to begin with.

Sorry, I don't have much headroom on mine; I would not be able to replace them for anywhere near my asking price.

Wheels and suspension are always worth it. If you buy your car, detail it and then change the suspension and add the wheels you want... You've already solidified how awesome your e34 is. I went wheels before suspension, waited around for a while on stock height with a few different sets. (M-par reps, another set of mpar reps, then my staggered m systems) Once I finally got my coilovers, I was set because I had wheels I already loved. Got tires sized better, spacers, and voila.

the key to wheels is patience.. Have your money saved and check the classifieds here and on the general forum every once in a while, you have all winter. Come summer you'll have found a baller set of wheels for a good price because you were patient. Then you're stylin.

Thanks man, that's certainly my plan. However, I'm pretty content with the suspension on my car! PO put Bilsteins all around and I'm not really a fan of lowered cars. Will certainly be looking around!

[QUOTE=Jungerishere;25625699]Yep. As in $75.00 as in seventy-five dollars for the set of 4. Three of the rims had some minor curb rash and the seller just wanted them gone from his garage. Curb rash was an easy fix. Sanded them down from 80 to 120 to 120 to 400 to 1000 to 2000 and polished with Mother's Billet. They look good as new. :redspot Just the outter lip looks more polished than the rest of the rim but I don't mind.

I think Mpars are the best looking wheel for our cars unless you go with Real Alpinas, AC Schnitzers, or Hartges :D..... Mpars fit our hubs and are period correct for our cars. Style 32's were designed for the e39 and have a different hub bore, so you will have to run hubcentric rings. Not really a big deal, but I like the idea of wheels that fit without modifications.

Steve547i
12-19-2012, 01:26 PM
There are e39 fitment mpars though. They only came on our cars on the 95 m5 though and not in US. They were proper hub bore. E38 ones are super common but tires won't work. Reps are even more common.

Fwiw, gixxers set is immaculate. Providing tires are included its a great deal. It might be slightly over your budget but there is no work on your end.
E38 tires will not work if you are looking for oem. So providing they are undamaged you need tires. If they are damaged then you are going to want them clean. I'd hope so at least because your car is very clean.
After buying/selling too many wheels, if I was looking for m-pars I'd bite the bullet on his fir peace of mind. Price out good 18inch tires when you get a shot.

True on three accounts (well almost); there were Mpars available for the e39 Msport in the 74.10 hub bore. There were e34 specific offsets only offered in Europe; unfortunately, they are NLA and very difficult to find. Mine are e38 offsets/72.56 hubs and they Do work!....Perfectly! I have no fitment problems whatsoever. Of course if you run seven series rubber, you will have issues and it will look funny. I run the correct 18" tire suggested by Tire Rack for my car. Therefore, I am quite happy with them and I have no real reason or desire to search out a set of e34 specific fitment rims that would change the offsets.

Other than to have bragging rites....

Ugh, you guys are killing me! OBVIOUSLY I want them. But I can't pay 1.2 right now. I've got more than enough on reserve, but with no steady income it's a lot to spend at once. Also considering that I'm currently expanding my musical equipment (which isn't cheap either), I don't want to spend all of my money :(

Just so we're clear, Gixxer's M-pars are straight bolt on with no mods with good tires?

Edit: Ad says tires are not included. MAYBE if they were..

Yeah. If you want a perfect set of M-Pars, hi would be the set to buy. They are the best looking ones I have ever seen and I am always checking them out. I love mine but they are curbed up a bit.

I would go for 32s but I have heard they are heavy. I wonder what the weight difference is between a 18x8 M-Par and a 18x8 Style 32.

I have since added the centercaps which makes a big, big difference. I love these wheels.

Yes, the trade off will be less body roll and more feedback from the road. Obviously when I label it as feedback, I am putting my own positive spin on it - I prefer it that way. Other people might describe the ride as becoming harsher.

Disclaimer - I am not expert, but I have heard this a lot:

When deciding to run a larger wheel, remember that the heavier wheels can amplify the symptoms or accelerate the progression of existing suspension/steering issues.

If the above is true, you will want to make sure that your front end is nice and tight before buying a set.

Hmmm. There are new parts in the front end and I feel positive the front end is tight. However, the car pulls to left at 70mph+, but I always associated that to the wheels. May not be weighted correctly and the front and back have different tires. They also whine at high speed.

I always had a dream of getting a square set of M-pars in 18x9.5 and running 275s all around with some fender work in the front. That was my dream. It's just such a hassle! It all sounds good in my mind, but then rims, tires, change in ride, blah blah blah. And it all costs soooo much money! Seems like a lot of work to me for what I don't even need. But to you all I'm sure it just sounds like I'm b*tching and moaning :)

Just keep browsing CL and the classifieds. There was a pair of mpars for $300 on ATL CL couple of months ago. You might piece togeter a set that need repair and since you're a pretty handy youngin', you could do the refinishing yourself. I remember Dani540 (me thinks that's his sn) did a refinish on a set in his build thread. I'll try and find it. Oh and

I don't even see any e34s in my area...much less with m-pars. They're a great wheel imo and would actually be my wheel of choice. Also leaning very heavily towards style 32's. Can be had for relatively cheap too with some work.

I agree. There are a lot of e34s on this forum that have Mpars, but I think it's pretty rare to see one in the everyday world.

If any wheels are damaged when you get then, and the damage isn't too bad, I can help you get them fixed.

Yeah, chrome....
but for $600 (or less), you get good tires too. Wouldn't look horrible on Arktisgrau.

I've never seen M-pars on an E34 :( Only on E38s which are still mighty cool.

And E39s.

The Cape E34s all wear their factory shoes.

Ok, my Picts are too big but my avatar says it all.

Somebody please tell me if deflating the spare M-Par and tire(I have a mobile way of inflating it) will make it fit into the spare tire well??
