Ok theres 3 circumstances.

Get a 2007 bmw 328i sedan roughly 70-85k miles for $15-16k and no warranty
Get the same bmw with a bumper to bumper extended warranty through a dealer for 1500-1800. So Im betting that in 2 years Im going to spend more than that on repairs if I dont get the warranty.

3rd option, get a 2008 or 2009 328i and pay roughly 19-20k and it comes with CPO

Or if anyone else can throw a suggestion out there Id like to hear it.

Im pretty mechanically inclined but Ive never worked on a euro car. Just chevy and fords.

I have a 2006 325xi sportwagon. Bought it new. 65,000 miles on it now. Zero problems so far. One warranty issue with the steering wheel lock, taken care of by my dealer.

Had a 1995 525i. CPO car bought with 22,000 miles on it. Never needed the CPO warranty. The car was the most reliable I ever owned. Drove it to 156,000 miles, but lost it to a drunk driver. Miss it every day.

Thanks for the reply and I understand there will be people saying what you just said and then ones coming in here saying they needed their CPO or extended warranty or didnt get it and paid a lot of money out of pocket.

What Im trying to figure out is what would be the smartest way to go about it.

If I got the newer BMW with CPO Im paying $5k more, sure Im getting newer and piece of mind but will I spend $5k on repairs? Dont know it seems like the odds are in my favor.
But then buying an extended warranty is a lot cheaper too. Tough decisions.

Get an 09 (LCI) without a warranty.

Why though?

And if I can get rid of my car in time I found an amazing deal on a 2011 328i
