Just purchased my first car. When i saw this car I knew it had to be mine. I loved it out of all the cars on the lot. She needs a bit of love I am just not sure where to start. I never considered my self a car person. But I have become one. I want to bring it back to its former glory or even better. I love this car!!

I would like to learn to work on the car myself there is something about working on it that makes me feel good and gives me a sense of great accomplishment and makes it more fun to drive. I have had this car for only about 1 month I really want to bring this car back to life. Can anyone Help!?

1. My drivers seat has become twisted and I am not sure what to do about it?

2.When I first got the car I got 22-23 mpg. Now its down to 18-19 and seems to be getting worse. What could cause this and is there anything I can do myself to improve it.

3. What are things that one typically replaces, cleans or improves as soon as you purchase a this BMW model

As a recently new owner of an E34 I have to say the following links have helped me immensely:

e38. org/e34/

bmwe34. net/E34main. html

And though it says 7 series, a lot seems to crossover to the 5 series:

twrite. org/shogunnew/topmenu. html

(sorry for spaces in links... I don't have enough posts for urls...)

for the twisted seat go to my website below, see under fixes.

Also make a stomp test to see if you get fault codes, how to also on my website

Thank you so much for the references and advice. I will take some pictures soon to see what everyone thinks. I want to show the journey of the car now and what I want it to be

Yokohama tires are on it now they seem a bit worn. Is Yokohama a good brand of tire? I was also thinking about getting slightly bigger wheels. Instead of 15 I just wanted to go up to 16 inches. Is this a good idea?
