I want to apologize if I am out of place but I'm new here. Just just the forum because we just recently bought a 1993 convertible 325i with a hard top for it. We are having a terrible time with the defrost. It basically isn't working. We don't have a manual. I have the settings set to what a car from the 90's would have had. We're still getting major moisture on the inside of the car before we get in. Have to wipe it down with a towel. Is that just the way it is or are we doing something wrong? Thanks for the help. And again, apologize if I'm in the wrong place.

A 1993 isn't an E36, its an E30.

The defroster in the hardtop works via the rear window defrost switch in the east (on top of the stereo).

What? A '93 is an E36. At least my Bentley Manual says so.

Major moisture BEFORE you get in? The defroster only fixes the moisture AFTER you get in, and you need to select the AC to get the best performance from the defrost setting.

I'm not sure your problem is the defroster if it happens while you are not even in the car.

a 92 vert is an E30, 93 should be an E36

Nope. A 93' (US Spec car) is indeed an E30, I even owned one. The 1993 model year was a carry-over and was very limited. There was no 93' 318i, just the 325i was offered and they were only available as a 5-Speed transmission. Doesn't it seem odd to anyone that no members here in the E36 convertible forum own a 93' model year? There's a good reason for that! Just for the hell of it, I've attached several links showing what the 1993 3-Series convertibles look like. The last photo is of my own personal 1993 325ic.

E36 ran 92-98 though! I'm a little lost :/

But anyway the moister could be caused by backed up drains! 2 in the top compartment and 1 under the windshield cowl. Try snaking them.

The defroster issue might just be a bad connection or lack of contacts
