Hi, I was curious if anyone knew the weight of the comfort seat and how much less the sport seat was.

They're pretty much identical, assuming both are electric. If anything the sport one is heavier.

Yes, no real substantial difference in weight

A comfort seat is 70#

I think the weight of the driver is generally more of a factor

Yes it is true, I weighed mine without a couple piece on it to be 67#. I replaced it with a 10# seat.

Ha! Yeah even if you replaced them with fiberglass racing seats and saved 100+ lbs, it's utterly insigificant in a car this heavy. You'd be much better off to remove 50lbs from the front end than 100lbs from the floor. There's a whole lotta crap up there that you don't need if you're serious about going fast. But don't get too serious or you'll realize you started with the wrong platform and have to start over.

Because I have every reason to make up those numbers. I weighed mine. Who knows, maybe they were anorexic comfort seats with pointy elbow rests.

I dunno man - you wouldn't believe how significant a difference it made removing the two seats and putting a 10 lb'er back in. It's pretty significant.

I dunno man - buy a better scale. I used one that we use to ship large packages and it clearly indicates 67 lbs without the seat belt stuff or the adjuster cable thing for the seat belt height. I think with hardware, wire harnesses, seat belts, etc., you can safely assume 70 lbs per seat. I have my seats out still in the shed I could weigh them, but I weighed both and they were both in the 67 lb range.

Gonna settle this damn it!
Just weighed on my bathroom scale which has proven to be within a pound of Fedex scales when I'm shipping items.
As it cannot be balanced on the scale by itself I need to stand there(for you guys)holding the damn thing. Deducting my own weight the seat weighs 69#. The scale doesn't read fractions so ostensibly does some rounding, up according to experience comparing to Fedex scales. So at least 68#, far from 57.
The seat in question is a heated memory seat from a '95.

Yep - coincides with my findings as well Ross. Thanks for confirming. I would chock it up to about 70 lb with associated seat belts and bracketry that came off the B pillar behind the trim, etc.

Removing 140 lbs from the middle of the car, relatively "tall mass" is fantastically noticeable.

Sounds good guys. I stand by my anorexic seats and their pointy elbow rests. I did the same thing Ross did and verified my weight with two different type of scales at the company gym. There is no point in arguing this, the anorexia got the best of them and now they are in a dump somewhere.

I dunno. My m5 fitted with comfort seats is definitely faster than my other stock 3.6.
