I have no prior records of any maintanance done to this car before I bought it and since its about to hit 200k I figured I'd change out the diff fluid just for routine maintanance.
When I pulled the drain plug the gear oil was quite clean but I had already bought some royal purple 75w-90 diff fluid so I went ahead and added the royal purple and topped it off. It seems like there isnt as much torque now and it accelerates more sluggish than before.
Any ideas?

The system is different now. I've learned more and now it's going a different direction. Back to the question please...

I seriously, seriously doubt your car performs any differently after a diff fluid change, if that is the only thing that happened. Unless you forgot to put the fluid in or put molasses in it. Go tune up your butt dyno lol.

I think your car is fine. The sluggish is all in your head...
you used the right fluid? There is a difference between open and LSD fluid..

True, if he used the wrong stuff it could screw up the diff, but that would take time. An instant change is nye on impossible short of adding cement to to it. Or sawdust...used cars dealers used a lot of sawdust back in the day.

Is your car equipped with a Limited Slip Differential? If yes, you need to use special oil designed for it.
To determine if you have a LSD, elevate the rear end and place it on jackstands. With the transmission in neutral and the parking brake off, rotate one of the rear tires and look at the tire on the opposite end of the axle. If the tire rotates in the same direction, your car is equipped with an LSD. If the tire rotates in the opposite direction, your car is equipped with a regular differential.

It's all in your head, unless you did something else to your car at the same time and its wrong. Do a basic tune up of your car and see if that helps at all
