Tad more involved than I was hoping. Got her done. 117k miles and just went out.

question 1: did an oil change while I was at it, 7 quarts. Drove for about 15 minutes. Checked oil level on dash, and I'm a smudge under halfway between min and max. Thoughts on this? Added 7 quarts.

Question 2: I didn't even get a full 2 gallons of coolant in and I'm at the full mark. I bled it twice using then auto-bleed method. Also normal?

Took me all weekend since I was busy. Friday night took off the underbody panels and took off the sway bar and power steering lines so move them out of way. About 30 minutes.

Saturday I took it all out. About 2 hours since this was my first time. Not a "mechanic type".

Sunday I put all the new stuff in. About an hour.

Anybody have any questions about it, since its fresh in my head, ask away.

I buy all my parts from TheBMWPartsStore. He's a member here on the forums. Works at the BMW dealer here in Cincinnati Ohio as parts manager. If you order from him or website the parts are severely discounted.

I live 15 min away so pick my parts up. No affiliation just a happy customer.

Water pump was $342 (cheapest of about 8 places I called for pricing). Thermostat was $77. All OEM BMW parts.

I would just PM him for pricing. If you use the website then the discount is built in. They are still building the site so never used it before to order. I always PM him then pick up the parts.

Oh, another thing I like is he always reminds me of stuff I forget. Like when doing the pump you're not suppose to reuse the 3 star-head screws. I totally forgot but he reminded me to pick up a pack of them (like $5.00). Also reminded me that I would need coolant. Duh. I was draining it all to do the replacement. Was so worried about the replacement I totally forgot I'd also need coolant haha.

Still wondering about why the oil is showing closer to MIN than MAX after 7 quarts. Any thoughts on this?

Figured out my oil level issue. And coolant issue. All good.

Next I think I have a small seepage leak in the oil filter housing seals... gotta keep an eye on that.
