It is the same long block (everything except the manifolds). Exhaust manifolds will be the same. Intake manifold may or may not be. I know I've seen some early E32/E34 M30 intake manifolds that have some different fittings on them. In any case you can reuse your current ones.


Now strictly speaking, in some states you are not supposed to put an older engine in a newer car, but in this case, who's going to know? Most of those techs don't know what an M30 is supposed to look like.
