Hey guys, any of you doing it this year? I signed up for the May 2nd, 7:00 AM session.
I never got to do it last year. I hear it is sort of annoying how they run it, but thought it might be fun.

I'm going to sit this one out. It might be fun if you got there right when then open up and didn't have to wait in the ridiculous lines.

Yeah, that was my plan for signing up for the 7AM session.

NO NO NO, sign up for the 9am, and get there at 7. The 7am means you will not have time to do the "practice."
Oh, and I'm not doing it this year, I wasn't a big fan, and how can any of us little people compete with Neil Sapp?

Lots of us, apparently - he didn't finish too high at the DC tour event last year in B Stock.
They changed the format this year. They split the competition sessions. So 7AM chalk talk, 7:20 -9AM is time to run their stations. 9AM is the first competition and 10AM is the second competition.

After coming within 0.4 secs of winning last year.. I think going would only frustrate me more.... so I'll pass this year and retire knowing that I came THAT close to knocking off Mark Daddio... I think I was only 0.1 off Neil Sapp too.

And the 2 guys up at the top went to like 3-4 different Revitups. There is no reason to go unless you think you can win - IF you autox regularly. If you don't autox, then it's a fun time. I just don't think it will be run this year.

Wow, Eric, you did really well! Congratulations! That would be motivation for me to return, I think.
And the only reason I'm going is for a chance to win. I suspect I won't win, but I'd like to see how well I can do against some stiff competition, hence I'm willing to shell ou the $40.

Yeah, nice driving, Eric!

Hi guys-
If you don't mind, I might join you-at least watch. I've only done autocross once so I am not really experienced. Where is this going to be held?
Thanks!

WTF is it?

WTF is it?
it's a semi-autocross with some educational segments that let you learn the car ahead of time. you don't get to walk the course.
the educational segments are great for new autocrossers, and people who aren't familiar with pushing their car in slalom or ultimate lateral grip settings.

Thanks guys :)
Also, Steve Snow ran in Philly before the DC event also...
I'd rather save my $40 because I know I wont win. If I had the spare cash, it'd be fun to pay the $40 to see how you stand up against fellow drivers in the region, but with buying a new house and all.. that $40 can go towards some more tools in my garage :) One note though, this year it will be in the Mazda 3, which is smaller and more nimble than the Mazda 6 was.... it'd be interesting to see how the results show up... I'd beware SCCA Nationals drivers who typically trophy w/ their Neons and stuff.... they are going to be all over this.
PLus you only get 2 runs on a crappy course... and they space your runs out so you can't just do them back to back. You end up wasting the entire day there.
You get a free hat though! :)

Yes, a free $40 hat.

I would but I would not be able to figure out how to drive/drift with a FWD. :( I guess use the parking brake :95
magnetic1
03-25-2004, 04:24 PM
no need to drift... that'll make you hit cones. Their course is rediculously narrow....
No need to shift either... its an automatic. Well.. if you consider moving the shifter from 1 to 2 in an automatic as "shifting" then youre in trouble :)
As far as the parking brake goes... I never used it. Left foot braking and shifting weight around is just as effective and it keeps both your hands on the wheel....

but drifting is RACING :icon23:
