Well, I sold by 92 E36 325i and bought a 97 740iL. I got it for a steal because the seller didn't know how to deal with the basic electrical issues... Power seats didn't work (already fixed), speedo not working - abs and asc lights on (new wheel sensor otw), display pixels about 80% out (project for this weekend), driver window stuck down (cable detached), etc. But I love this car!!! I thought I loved my E36, but this car is worlds apart from that one. I'll get some pics up soon.

Welcome! I got a '97 Il to :buttrock. Have fun, these cars are a blast to drive, just make sure to keep up on maintenance. A properly running e38 is something every serious car enthusiast should experience owning. It will always manage to impress you in some way.

Welcome,

It sounds like you're pretty handy with a spanner which will save you a ton. This forum is an excellent source of material for DIY. I think half the fun of these cars is looking after them. Mine was owned by an elderly doctor fellow. Mechanically sound but horrifically dirty. I bought about 500 bucks of cleaning stuff including a clay bar and now it's like new again.
