I put 740i seats in my truck and I'm having a problem on bumps. The backs of the seats have equal play front to back....you could actually put a hand on the shoulder and rock the back of the seat front to back maybe less than an inch. With turbulence the seats vibrate if there is nobody in them or the back will move if you are in the seat, is this poor seat design or is something equally whipped out between both seats?? It's driving me nuts once the passengers back starts rattling it vibrates the entire seat....maybe mounting is part of the problem. Any ideas?

I'd take the seat apart. I've never heard of this.

It's both drivers and passengers seat, I think it would be a lot of work to be honest.

Nothing more than a Sunday job. Of course, start with the passenger side in case things go wrong. :)

I will probably hold off until summer, because while I do this I had planned on swapping my passengers side seat with the drivers for even wear...I just need to swap the side plastics, buckles, and controls it all seems universal the seat itself is the same.

You don't have slack in your seats? I will take a video to show what I am dealing with!

Nope! No slack at all. Did you buy them like that?

Yes they were like that from day 1 I'm not sure if anything electrical effects this. I know there is a seat belt tentioner that goes off with the airbag maybe the seat loosens up on impact I duno.

That a good thought. Retro fit the door panels in and wire up the airbag. Might as well do the power/auto windows. And from there do the power/auto dimming side mirrors. while you're at that, do the auto dining rear view mirror. Oh, and since you're seats are heated, fit in the heated steering wheel. With all the buttons on the wheel, it'd only make sense to wire them up. Pick up the 4 speakers, 4 tweeters, and 4 woofers and a DSP amp. What's the point of the DSP amp without the screen to control it? A 4:3 screen can be bought for cheap now a days. But in order for the screen to turn on, you need the nav system. but how are you going to see where the nav is taking at night without proper lighting? With a little body work, the HID s can fit in. HIDs come with a auto leveling feature that really helps in the mountains. The module and sensor is easy to put in. Hell, if you wanted nice seats, just buy a seven.

Dude why are you being a prick, I don't want a BMW I want a classic retrofit truck your missing the whole point I like this truck for its own reasons.

Actually... I already retrofitted power locks and windows, along with an auto rear view mirror from a GMC, I already have an entry level AB powered SQ system (non-SPL) and 16:9 netbook driven music library. I'm in the process of retrofitting projectors into a 4x6 lens housing, like I said I just want some help with my BMW seats. Thanks

All the seats in all my 740s I've had have seemed loose like that, when there is no passenger the seat backs seem to vibrate or move or something, even if I feel no vibrations in the car, would be nice to be able to tighten them up

Haha a little bit of that too, but I've been on a rattle hunt for a year that keep moving around (I do competition audio) it makes it even harder to find other noises.

Nah I don't want that crap, my truck never came with airbags from the factory anyway those are not going to save me. It's a 1988 Dodge Dakota with a 440 six-pak If I'm guna die I'm guna die lol

BAMF right here lol.

It could be that something is loose. I don't know if you carry anyone in your passenger seat, but try taking that one apart first.

Again lol taking them apart looks complicated the entire seat would have to be removed from the vehicle and the shake is very equal between the two seats if they were loosening up you would think one would be more loose than the other or more play.
