Hello,

Due to the distance of my work place, I do not drive my car daily.
I tried to drive it at least once on weekends, but I wonder it is enough for my car.
I know if a car is not driven regulary, its bad for seals and other things.

Is it ok driving my car once a week?

My car is 2003 540i 6speed with 73,000 miles.

Thank you.

Don't panic, she can handle it :D
I've been doing this since I bought mine, that is in 2001 and she still runs FINE!

90% of the road tiume my 540i sees is on the weekend... I only drive it to work once or twice a month. I only drive it during the week once once in a while. It will also occasionally sit for 1-2 weeks at a time while I am away on business.

There is no issue with seldom driving it. Now if you drove it once a quarter, then you may have some issues, but once a week is fine.

Thank you for the quick reply.
I am glad to hear that.
It's funny that I want to work a place where is located far so I can drive it everyday. :)

Cool. I was worried haha.
This is my first time that I do not drive my car everyday. It's good that I do not have to stuck in a traffic, but it's sad that I do not drive my car everyday.:)

If you think you'll park it more than that, you may consider one of those solar trickle chargers to keep the battery topped up.

once a week is fine. Sometimes i'll let mine sit for a month and she fires up first try.

Nope. You should give it to me so I can make sure it gets driven more often.

NO! dont do it!

Your risk destroying your engine and you could blow up while driving.

You just go sell your car TODAY and wire the money to me. PM me for banking info!

You can let your car sit for quite some time (a week or more) without significant car problems. The key is to run the car at least 20 minutes (until it is FULLY warmed up) each time you take the car out....and.....do NOT "baby" it. The V8's like to have some real "flow" at times....and....it will pay off in minimal crankcase pollution, water accumulation, and other maladies.

Yes, by all means, take it out for a 20+ mile high speed jaunt. DO NOT start it up and let it run in place!

If it tends to set for 2+ weeks, get a smart battery charger.

Yes...it's even ok to drive your 5'er TWICE a week! :rofl

Seriously...keep the battery on a maintenance charge so it stays fresh. :cool
