Anyone used these with a 6MT?

I personally haven't used that kind, but if you're concerned with it getting in the way of shifting try these
http://ultimatecupholders.com
I have them and I love them. They are out of the way, actually work, and are adjustable to accommodate different size cups, cans, bottles, etc.
And they're half of what that other one costs!

Agree... they don't match a damn thing, I don't see them holding any beverage any better than the plastic ones... maybe worse even. ( plastic will give a bit of pressure on a over sized container )
I took mine out because the damn flaps were everywhere... I just want a new one to fill in the space. Bottled water for me, no need for holders... wedge the darn thing between seatbelt and center console

$80! Are you referring to the ultimate ones?? If so then shame on you for letting the stealership rape your wallet :nono
They are $25 each or 45 for a pair plus ~$5 for shipping from their website

That is the TEC cup holder, sold by TEC and by BMW. Great product...not sure about you manual guys...fine with the slushbox! ;)
http://www.umnitza.com/aluminum-e39-cupholder-replacements-p-5831.html
Aluminum does not overcome the problem that they grab/secure the cup much too low, thus allowing the cup to fall out or tip over if cornering at anything other than grannie speeds.
Even the TEC cupholder is not perfect if driving agressively, but it is the best solution that keeps my drink in an easily reached location. All the other options are too low.

Best cup holders ever and it was only 20 bucks from ebay.
Edit... just read the thread and rf pointed it out...

I have that with 6MT. It kinda does. I don't struggle to shift but have to lift elbow ever so slightly depending on size of drink. Don't expect to shift like your on the track though.

I used to have the TEC cup holder but found no use with larger sized drinks. I just make a sacrifice and not drink in the car which applies to other passengers unless they wanna hold on tight to their drinks.

My ultimate cup holders work well large drinks such as large drinks from McDonald's and that sort

That is a bit pricey. I just used generic the Dorman OE style replacement front cup holders which is holding up just fine after two years of use. This includes my wife regularly wedging one of the large foam McD's Sweet Teas in the passenger side arm.

I don't understand how people break the cup holders so regularly... they must be ham-fisted apes because if you pay attention to what you are doing, its not hard to put a cup in them without breaking them.
As far as them sucking at holding most drinks... I agree, but these don't look to solve that issue at all.
Not to mention $150 will buy you 3 OEM setups.

I don't see how they do it either. Mine were already broken when I bought my car though :rolleyes

Mine were when I test drove my car... the dealer replaced it before I picked it up though.
I rarely use them but my g/f will from time to time, she is less than gentle at times but still manages to not break them, I have had the car for a year and a half now.
It must be the "when in doubt, force it" mentality of many people these days.
One of my favorite sayings is "Finesse, try it some time".

Mine worked when I got the car but now one is broken after the first time my wife and stepdaughter when out in it.

We no longer have these in stock. We sold out of all 20 of them and do not plan on making any more.
It's currently on the site as a place holder until we get a better cupholder system in place. Thanks for looking.
