well, the brake fluid light as been on my dash for quite some time now. i never noticed a difference or loss in fluids so figured it was just a sensor. yesterday, i went out to my car and i had no clutch pressure what so ever. i couldn't build up any pressure and the pedal wouldnt even come back up. it drove completely fine just a few days prior. im assuming my slave cylinder went from what I've looked up so far? could there be a relation between these 2 problems since the slave cylinder runs through the brake fluid? im getting frustrated searching forums for answers and being a student in college i dont want to order the wrong part(s) and waste money :mad also i've heard Turnermotorsports has a bad reputation for their "german supplier" slave cylinders? Any help is greatly appreciated guys!

Were you checking the reservoir when the light was telling you? Is the reservoir full? If not look for leakage at calipers, master cylinders (brake/clutch), slave, etc. Make necessary repairs , refill and bleed both systems (pressure bleeding preferred). Monitor closely to insure repairs.

Check your brake fluid master cylinder under the hood. It's a yellowish reservior just in front of the steering wheel. If the fluid is a bit low, and you park it on an incline, it can prevent fluid from reaching the clutch master cylinder, as it does pull fluid from the same reservior. Seems to me like you're just low on fluid. I've never had a brake fluid level sensor go bad on an E36, so it's likely just low on fluid. You'll have to rebleed the slave cylinder after you've refilled it, and there are tons of how-to's on here about how to do that properly. Also, stop ignoring warning lights. Look in the owner's manual to find out what they mean, and what you need to check.

slave cylinder. look for a puddle under your car. It's a pretty easy DIY.

I gotta ask the Stupid Question of the Century...
Did you check the level of the fluid in the reservior? If the light is on, the fluid is low. If the fluid is low then the clutch will fail before the brakes fail.
What is with all the people lately that get a warning light and their very first thought is "sensor must be bad". Good lord, people. Does it never fricking cross your mind to actually check. Guy last week did the same with coolant level warning

I randomly get codes for "check coolant" and it's always been at proper level. Guess I'm just too used to always having cel's on that I normally ignore them now :/
But thanks for all the help guys! I'll check around for leaks again and try to add fluid then bleed the lines. Finding a diy won't be hard. I didn't see any leaks around the pedals or on the floor so I'm assuming the master cylinder is still fine. I'll let you guys know what I come up with.

Replace the sensor at the bottom of the bottle ; )
They are like $17 IIRC.

Replacing the level sensor won't get him his clutch back.

I'm not sure if your trying to be funny or are serious. If your serious you shouldn't be trying to help people.

A. I was informing him on a repair for a different issue. You would have known that if you read the quote
B. I've helped and have done more with these cars than you could imagine
3. MeThinks if one can't see it was a joke, than they shouldn't be doing repairs.
