Hello fellow E39ers!

I wanted to see if any of you can help me determine if my Aux fan needs to be replaced (most likely), or if the shroud / grill is warped.

If you can, with the car off and no key in the ignition, open your hood, and locate the Aux fan. With a tool or finger(s), see if you have any play / wobble front-to-back (not round-and-round). If you do get some play, take your best guesstimate; quarter inch, half inch, etc., and let me know.

The reason I ask this of y'all is that my Aux fan hits the shroud / grill when the fan engages. My car drives fine, doesn't overheat, and the fan turns on when it is supposed to. But I definitely not driving the car until resolved.

Here is someones YouTube video of the noise / issue I am having, and as a visual example:

Thanks in advance!

theres a bolt on the lower section of the intake which is behind the bumper support. Turn the screw out a turn or two.

Hmmm, okay. I'll take a look for the bolt.

Ended up being the bearing in the fan motor. Buying a new fan. I would replace just the motor for cheap, but the fan blades are a bit brittle.
