Just as the title states. What're some good preventive measurements to be taken to keep this car for another 10 years. I was thinking of changing the suspension out and upgrading to a sport suspension.
Loved the suspension on my 528i sport. What're some suggestions to get even a more tighter handling than the 528i sport suspension?
By the way, why is it so damn expensive to get the pixels fixed on the cluster gauge?

Another local E39.
What is the maintenance history of the car?
Beside the suspension overhaul, you need cooling system overhaul every 100K mi or so. Trans fluid changed at that mileage is 50/50. Oil changed on time (I do it every 7.5K mi with filter). VANOS seals.
You might be able to get help from BMW NA regarding the cluster repair. They offer 50% part cost for my E53 but it's still too expensive. I bought the ribbon and fix it myself. VERY tedious work but doable.

Nice. Car has had all of its work done by F1 Automotive in Smyrna, GA. Not sure too much about the history as it's my father's old car. I know the cooling system was changed at 91K miles, iirc. Oil change every 5,000 miles here. Where in Atlanta are you?

Email Mike Miller at AUSPUF2002@aol.com. Ask for his old-school maintenance schedule. However, if your daddy followed the existing E39 BMW schedule, much of the damage has been done, and I suspect the car won't make 300k w/o extensive funds infusions.
Re cluster repair, you have the option to refuse to take advantage of their service. The practitioners are in business to make money, not offer an altruisitic service. If you wish, there are kits out there for you to attempt the repair yourself. Good Luck with that.

Lilburn. Get a service record from F1 Automotive so you know what had been done.
