Ok I was going to post this in the detail section but felt everyone would benefit from this.

I purchased a CR spotless wash system from Costco yesterday and was fortunate enough to pick it up from the manufacture this morning which is here in my hometown of San Diego ( had to make a few phone calls but made it happen). I NEVER review products EVER unless they blow me away, well... This product is amazing I literally washed my car from start to finish with this deionizing system and never once dried it with a towel. Let me just say the car was absolutely 100% spot free after it dried!! I was so shocked that I literally wet the car all over again just to make sure it wasn't a fluke LOL. Since I'm so anal it usually takes me about 40 mins to wash the outside of my car as i do it in sections well -not anymore!! It's strange because I feel like my car is significantly more shiny as well. I highly recommend this if you want to wash your car and never worry about spots.

Here is the link to the Costco deal which includes an extra two bags of resin : http://www.costco.com/CR-SPOTLESS-De-Ionizing-Spotless-Water-System™.product.11762647.html

I would like a filter system like that, but that cost is pretty high. I just run down to the car wash after I hand wash the car and rinse it off for $.50 with their spot-free rinse. It would take alot of car washes to break even there.

I use a filter that I bought to refill my hot tub, cost about $49

How many washes does the filter last? I assume it just screws onto the end of a hose?

Yes, just attached to the hose, I think it says 5000 gallons, which is alot of car washes, not alot of hot tub fills :) but it was inexpensive

Would you mind posting a link to what you have for this or something similar?

Seems like a lot but remember you can essentially wash anything you don't want to spot. People wash motor-homes, windows on your house ( I saved big on that cost) etc... I guess I just got sick of spending that extra time drying and spray detailing after a wash because of spots. Plus I haves few cars so washing more than two at a time becomes a very long job.

I've tried the ones that fit on your hose like these without success that's why I finally bought this system. You might have better luck if your water is not as contaminated as San Diego's ... I recently saw a report that showed San Diego was among the top 5 worst places in the country for hard water.

No worries... It's good to get others opinions. Please report back- maybe you'll have better luck with those products than I did.

So I used this on Sunday to wash the car. I put the filter on even before I started so I had filtered water the entire time and in the bucket. Ran a towel quickly across the hood, windows and roof. Drove it around the block to shake some water off then parked in the garage.

This morning I came into the garage to find a mostly clean car... but still some water spots. I would call it about 50% better than without the filter... but that's all a guess.

I'll keep using it because it doesn't change hose pressure and it says it's good for many thousands of gallons. I wouldn't tell you guys to rush out and buy this thing tho.

I'm curios what setting did you have your nozzle on, was it the recommended flat or cone setting? Something seems wrong as I have had great success on my 4th wash with zero spots so far ( having it since last week) :-)

Seems obvious but make sure u get all the soap off, that will cause spots as well regardless of water. You'd be amazed how soap tends to stick on cars after rinsing.

I'm not sure if this was directed toward me, but I was referencing the RV inline water filter I posted the link to, not the system your OP was talking about.
