225/50/16 is the tire size. Yesterday I realized my Continental ContiSport Extremes are crap! I was hydroplaning ALL OVER the highway while everyone is just flying past me, it's very very scary to have your car hydroplane at 55mph, not fun at all! I need new tires, I'll keep these POS's for the snow, other that that, whats good? Thanks!

Wait, so you're hydroplaning on these tires in the rain, yet you want to use them in the snow? You do realize how ridiculous that statement is, right? The only thing those tires are good for is a few smoke shows before they hit the dumpster...

This might sound dumb, but I was wondering if they are rotating in the righ direction? I've seen some people complain the same thing, and then realize instead of this:

you could have that tire rotating the wrong way, and instead of moving water from the center to the sides, its doing the opposite.
I have these tires on my father's S55, and he didn't even buy snow tires this winter. They stick awesome for an All-Season tire, in RAIN and SNOW. I would have used Pirelli PZero Nero M+S as my first choice, but figured the way the pattern is, after half the tire's life is gone, the rain and snow part would be effected. This tread design, will do the all-season part better for the tire's life, and I've given up very little on the Handling.
And if these hydroplane now, imagine slush/sleet mix on the groung... I wouldn't save these for snow...but check your tires, make sure they rotate the right way. Some times roatations are done, and they don't see which way the tire needs to rotate. If thats straight, make sure your alignments in check...
My summer tire choice is the Yokohama AVS ES100. I actually used it through the winter, cause when it did snow, I didn't drive my car :D But seriously, awesome 3 season tire, and great in the summer time when the temps outside are nice and warm. Not badly priced too, and great hydroplaning properties.

haha, well they worked fine in the snow storms this past year, i dunno whats up with them in the rain....
carcrazed, my alignment is outta whack, this could cause hydroplaning? Also the tire rotation is all correct.....I was lookin at the AVS Es100's but it seems that they wear quick and make a lotta noise, or so the people say in the reviews, is it true?
I'm not fully sure if I will be buying tires yet though, I might be upgrading to 18" rims, so if I do upgrade, should I go with the AVS ES100 or something else? If I get the AVS i won't be driving in the snow since I don't have that much money for 2 pairs of tires, and 18" get a bit more pricey.

Well it can lead to it. The thing is, if a tire is not aligned properly, it can be causing excess friction in certain ways. Seeing that friction is actual grip, you will realize that if inefficient fricition (not as beneficial to grip, more like a tire plowing a little sideways cause toe is out of whack) cause more friction and less benefit. Now lets say its wet, well you now have less fricition before slippage...hense loss of traction on one wheel.
So imagine an alignment and your front wheels for example are | -- | normally, but instead you have a slight case of / -- | where one wheel is not set properly, your now going to experience these types of problems.
Note about the Yoko AVS ES100s, I think they are quite quiet, compared to my Pilot Sports and Dunlop 9000, not bad at all. Besides the system, exhaust, intake, Flywheel...I'm always making more noise then the tires make.
Good luck. and yes on 18s, you won't find a 4 season tire that I would trust besides these contis.

Yea, the alignment is quite outta whack, I assume that would be the problem. As for the 18's, do you mean I should go with the AVS or the Conti's if I get the 18s?

well I have 8,000 miles on them, and thy still show 7-8/32s.
I would say go conti's first if your ooking for long wear and an all-season tire.
Charlie.
