I was wondering if anyone has done a swap on the steering gear boots without taking the front suspension completely apart. Is this possible?

Thanks in advance.

Technically you can't do it, you would have to take atleast the tie rods apart to put the boot on there. You COULD cut a slit and just slide it over, and be verrry crafty with how you seal it, and it better be a good job.

Edit: Idea! Cut a slit and slide it over, then cut another boot open and slide it over the first one in the opposite direction. Now zip tie that sucker down making sure both of the boots pinch down nice and tight. Of course...you'd need 4 boots

Since your in there, and the tie rod ends are apart, you might consider replacing the assemblies while your there(if are not new). You can just disconnect the arm at the rack, but you should replace the lock washer. Disconnecting the tie rod is too much like work and it should really be re-aligned afterwards. At least there are some decent alignment places in WA.

Thats what I was suspecting. If I am going to take this area apart. What all should I replace while I am in there?

I would replace the assemblies on both sides, change the fluid to M1 syn ATF, lock washers, steering guibo/coupler, boots, and boot clamps. You'll be surprised at the level of improvement.
