Took about 4 hours of pidling around, taking it off and remounting it trying to get a better fit. Its been a long time since I've crawled around on a garage floor doing this kind of work--I'll be SORE tomorrow.

The sound is mellow but assertive, seems quieter than most of the vid clips I've heard of other aftermarket exhausts, but it is hard to compare to a video clip. Very happy with the sound.

Fitment is another issue and I'm not too pleased. There is a rattle up near the cross-brace reinforcement plate that needs correcting and the tips just aren't right--too low and tilted. So, I'll have to take it to my muffler shop and have them see what can be done to correct these problems. Too bad, I would have like to have seen a nice clean install. I'll also call Alta and see what they have to say about it.

Alta, I've never heard their name in BMW tuning before. New player, or have they done Audi/VDubs and just crossed into the Mini market.

I'm new to the Mini scene, but they appear to be only Mini tuners. Check them out at

My muffler shop loosened everything, re-aligned it, and tightened it up. Fitment is now right-on! So easy on a lift--so difficult on my garage floor. Cost: $20!

Also installed Yoko ES100s in place of the runflats--very nice feel now with much improved ride.
