Most likely the UK as they drive RHD cars, will be well maintained and looked after. They love these cars over there, they are Europe's workhorse.

You're bored with your LHD E36 so you want a RHD one? You probably just live in the wrong country I've never seen a RHD E36 let alone for sale in the states. They just aren't worth shipping over and if they are the owner generally will hang on to them.

40 year old soccer moms drive my car. If I can get a RHD m3 or m5 or even a 328 or 525 or something I would have something unique that not many people in the states see. I've been thinking of getting rid of the e36 for an e39 540 but idk what I want to do.

Good luck. Last one i saw for sale in the states was in california and the dude was selling a 320i for $10,000:confused. If a 320i went for that much imagine an m3. Lol forget that..

RHD would be difficult to find in the USA. The only way there would be one here is if somebody imported it theirself. I cannot imagine that any car factory would send an RHD car here for any reason other than to have as some kind of showcase car.
So, finding an RHD car will be difficult. Not impossible, but also not easy. The ease of finding such a thing is increased as one expands the specimen pool that he would consider getting his car from. For example, if you only want a BMW 3 Series, then the number of cars will be small, if you will take anything from BMW, Toyota, and Honda, then the pool of available choices will be bigger.

I figured it out...
1. Get a steering wheel installed on the passenger side of the car (like the drivers education cars)
2. Get a brake pedal installed (again like the Drivers Ed cars)
3. Wire a lever to the passenger side door panel from the cruise control unit for acceleration. (if you want get a throttle lever off of a boat and install somewhere on the door panel.)
Final step, get a job at your local post office, bathe in the glory. For now you own a RHD e36.

I found some cheap UK cars I'm going to talk to an importer about. Mostly E34s. Found one for 700 pounds actually. Lol.

You have a soccer mom driving the RHD car? That's f---ing insanity in the highest degree. And you are doing it because it looks unique?
Consider that the soccer kids that your soccer mom is driving around town will be in a car that the roads do not accomodate. Our entire highway ssytem is designed from the ground up to be operated and observed from the left hand side of the car. THERE IS A REASON OUR CARS ALL OPERATE FROM THE SAME SIDE, and a huge part of the reason is that the drivers can see around the other cars.
It is one thing to want a unique car for the occasional jaunt in the countryside, or whatever. But it is insanity in the highest degree to load such a car up with kids and carry them to the local soccer fields every day. the Soccer Mom has plenty of other chores to do that put her behind the wheel of a car that does not fit the highways and byways of America.
Do yourself a favor, get the RHD car for something fun on Saturday, get your soccer mom something that fits the rest of society. She will enjoy it more.

I can be unique in a RHD car every day. Plenty of other people do it.

There is a RWD 318i with just 55k km on the odometer for sale local to me, for 6000 (Vancouver cars tend to cost more). Could probably try to bump him down since he's been trying to sell it for the last 2-3 months, probably because it's a RHD lol

Yeah same here... not many people drive RHD cars in the area. The RHD cars you see are usually imported from elsewhere, much of them being Toyota Supras, RX7s, and Skylines. I've never actually seen someone driving a RHD 3-series.
As for importing... certain companies specialize in this sort of thing. Can't speak for the US but here in Canada there are special companies that you pay and they'll do it for you. I've seen some local ones that have 8-series avaliable for importing. Look/research around!

Any RHD car is imported. I was just looking to see if any one knew of some already imported.

Sorry, I did not mean to sound so harsh, but I think an RHD car for a soccer mom is fraught with problems. I think an RHD for the weekend to play with might actually be fun, and the uniqueness of it would definitely be worth the trouble of sitting on the wrong side of the car.
But to load up your most precious posessions -- not that the wife and kids are posessions -- for daily forays into a world that is ill-equipped to deal with the machine they are encased in just seems foolhardy to me.
My wife would not tolerate sitting on the wrong side of the road.

PLENTY of other people don't do it, that's why you can't find them.
Again, I am sorry for coming off wrong, but I take my driving relatively seriously, and to have an RHD car for daily driving is just a bad idea. Putting your wife in it every day, and having her shuttle the kids to soccer practice does not make the bad idea any better.
A car is not a toy. I play in my car plenty, but I make sure that when I am playing that there is nobody that will be there when the playing goes poorly. You are about to put a car that by definition has little use but as a play thing into the middle of the rest of us.
Get the car, I think that is a fine idea. Just do not inflict it upon your wife to drive, she will absolutely hate it. Just sayin'...
As for my comprehension, I have plenty of it. You said you wanted a unique car, and I caught that. You also said it was intended for a soccer mom to drive around. I caught that too. I'm a bit perplexed at what I might have missed.

What difference would putting the wheel on the other side make then? You've talking about external looks, not about the steering wheel and pedal placement. Buy a different car there's plenty out there. I think you're a civic guy. JDMASF

I guess you guys don't understand yet the reason I want one has been said by others in this thread a few times. Oh well.

What advantage does a RHD offer you over a LHD car in a country where LHD is standard? Besides the extra attention which it will attract from customs when you import your car (which will attract tariffs) and from your local department of transport (who will fail your car for smog testing as NO RHD cars were made with OBDII emission control), you gain nothing from this.
If you want something unique, then go for something truly unique. Find a 325i M-Tech or a model of some significance. Importing a dime-a-dozen car which is designed for the opposite side of the road, which may not be road legal in most of your country and will cost many times more than a better performing LHD model, is just lunacy.
But if you are convinced it is worth it, well enjoy wasting your money. I know for sure that such a trade here in Aus wouldn't be worth it (And for the same amount of cash, could get a 'real' M3 with the 320hp S50B32 engine).

My bad, sorry. I read your post as wanting the RHD for a 40-year old soccer mom, and that is a very bad idea.
Having a RHD car in a LHD world is a bad idea, but at least you are foisting the bad idea mostly upon yourself.
What you need to fill your need is an MG with RHD. You will have a truly unique car in the MGB, and when the top is off/down and people can actually see you on the wrong side of the car, they will be amused/interested in what you are doing.
I see no point in a 3 Series that is RHD. But, I liked my Jeep with 32" tires and a 6-point roll cage that was scratched and dented on the top. Surely, most people have little desire to be in a vehicle that is on its roof, or what passes for a roof when there isn't one.

only RHD BMW I've ever driven was a burgundy colored E30 316i UK-spec. Was imported to Canada and serviced at BMW Seattle when I was working there, the customer lives in British Columbia. So you might find a few more up North and a small batch of Euro-spec motor E36 M3's, so check around Canada before you have to import one across the pond.

^ Yeah, if you're dead set on getting a wrong hand drive e36, they're a dime a dozen up here. They always ask too much for them, and take forever to sell.
For sale right now, just in Edmonton...
