View Full Version : So on very humid mornings

When I start my car, it's very noisy for like 3 seconds, and it shakes the whole care from left to right like a diesel. For like 4 to 5 seconds and it's gone. And it ONLY happens on mornings with lots of humidity and dew on the ground. I figure this is the problem, and there's not much I can do about it, but anyone else have any similar complaints?

Get yourself a can of contact cleaner, one that says it will remove oxide on connections. Unplug the ECU and clean all the pins, the MAFS, coils, injectors, pull the back seat and do the fuel pump, go bonkers and clean electrical connections. Might be worth it to clean the element on the MAFS too.

I use the CRC brand contact cleaner but it doesn't remove oxide, so I might get a can of the Hosa stuff myself.

Could be your coils.

Check your wires and coils. The dew should make any difference at all.

Mine does the same, but for a few minutes. After it's all warmed up it becomes fine!

My gut feeling when I first read this was a leaky injector. Have you ever had them rebuilt? Ever used any injector cleaner? There is a member here that is excellent on injector cleaning service. Dano Performance http://danoperformance.com/

Several members have used him including myself and he is top notch. He is also the lowest priced. Ive checked a ton of sites that offer this service and he is by far the least expensive.

I would also check for a loose plug or faulty coil boots but I'm thinking that would probably cause issues that last a lot longer than just a few seconds.

My car does this except on really cold mornings does it for 30 sec tops and is fine for the rest of the day.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I figure after I do my front suspension my next project will be to do a more hardcore tune up. Will probably replace coil boots, probably swap coils to reverse order, check plug wires, do the VCG and spark plug gaskets since I know mine is leaking into the plug wells. Will probably take off the intake and replace all those hoses as well, probably do the motor mounts since everything is easier with the intake off. Will probably get a flow matched set from Dano too.

Sure sounds like alot of work for 5 seconds worth of trouble though haha
