E30's are a dime a dozen and super cheap on Craigs List. There are at least 3 in each junk yard near me and you can always find a decent parts car on Craigs List. Then there is the classifieds here. E30s are easy to get parts for.

Right now, at least in California, it's the perfect time to pick up an e30. They're in this balance where they're pretty easy to find in decent/good shape, prices are fair (mine was complete and running with a maintenance history for $1,000.00) and they are just beginning to get rare/desirable.
I'm just starting to get the e30 back in tip-top shape, and the e36 was "completed" earlier this year. Fun project.

I agree...e30's are enjoying a rebirth of sorts. They are definately popular and they are definately one of BMW's best cars ever built. If I could...I would have a stable with a e30 325ix, e30 vert and e30 m3....and maybe a 2002tii

While I like the E30 I don't see anything special about the car other than whatever YOU value it for. The e36 is superior to the E30 in every single way.... E36 has a better interior, more space, handles better although heavier, more powerful engine....
I can see myself buying an E30 and restoring it, but I wouldn't ever prefer it over an e36

all said is true but have you ever driven one?
there's a lot to be said about a well balanced <3000lb car
i had an eta and that (adequately) underpowered bucket still has me wanting another even with my superior in every way e36 in the driveway

Haven't driven one thoroughly, I did test drive one in my search for the E36. Don't get me wrong, I really love the style of the E30, but I liked the more "complete" e36. Maybe I'll get a chance to drive another one, maybe I'll change my mind :alright
