Hello all, getting ready to order a 2013 335i with the 6MT but I have a question. Does the manual come with the transmission modes like on the auto?, ie, sport, sport +, comfort and eco? If so, how do they work with the manual? I know on the auto, they firm up the shifts, change shift points, etc, etc, but how would you get the same effect from the manual?
Thanks.

You just do it yourself. Manual is, well, manual. There is a clutch and 6 gears, you decide how to do it without the computer overriding you, which is why it is fun.

So what you're saying is the 4 modes are not even an option on the manual? If so, awesome.

They are an option (standard actually), but not for the transmission. They are mainly for the drive by wire responsiveness, suspension settings and other efficientDynamics related items like HVAC settings, electrical loads, etc.

I use them regularly with the 6mt.
I use comfort for most driving, just kind of getting around.
I use Sport when I know there are some twisties, and Sport+ when I am alone and want to be a bit aggressive with it.

How much of a difference do you notice between comfort & sport+?

In terms of fun, its quite noticeable.
Kind of makes the car like a dual personality vehicle.

In comfort it feels like two cylinders are shut off.

As I already mentioned, they affect the suspension settings, and the responsiveness of the drive by wire throttle + other engine management. I also think it changes the electric steering response making it tighter. In short, the car becomes more responsive and sporty.

The settings are standard on all lines and all transmissions, though Sport and M-Sport have the added Sport+ setting.
As stated, the settings affect steering heft/effort and throttle response/sensitivity which are independent of 8spd auto or 6mt being fitted.

thats a cool feature i guess, does it drop the car when you turn on sports mode. Can you switch between comfort and sports while driving

I do not think the ride height changes, just stiffens up the suspension, and I believe you can change modes on the fly anytime. Owners can correct me if I am wrong.

Correct.
That would be something you might expect if the car was equipped with an air suspension.
