Hello,
I know that many users on the forum might blast me for the consideration of a caliper cover. However, I don't have the time, patience or know-how to paint my brake calipers, nor do I really want to, anyway.
I am looking for someone locally in Chicago who can install caliper covers on my E38. I doubt that caliper covers come with a perfect fit. All the on-line videos depict necessary cutting/sawing of third-party caliper covers.
If anyone thinks that placing these covers on my brakes will damage the brakes themselves, then please advise so much.
Thanks!

My only valid (meaning not an opinion) concern with those is that they are made of plastic and plastic melts at high temps. Your brakes can get pretty hot and I'd be worried they would start to warp or even melt. Plus the way they are secured can't be fantastic and could probably come loose. Brakes is not something I would want to have a failure with.
Go to your local parts store. Get a brake caliper paint kit by Duplicolor. About $20 and comes with everything you need. Brake cleaner, paint and a brush. If you can take you wheel off, you can paint your calipers. Super easy to DIY, should take 2 hours at most and you won't have to worry about something coming loose or melting.

Lmao... No worries my friend, I've hot-lapped @the track with my covers on, no melting and no issues. :)

You can do them yourself... I take mine off and on by myself, as long as you have access to a lift.
The only thing I've noticed is you have to be careful how you fit them on ofcourse you don't want to cover certain parts of the brake. Also never use the silicone it comes with :nono They will fly right off and sound like a Popsicle stick in your bike spokes when you were a kid. Lol I use Quick steel and would advise you to do the same. It works great, bonds in 5 min & sets in 20 with normal room temp or warmer. I get compliments all the time... everyone thinks they are calipers until I tell them otherwise
There is no such thing as a "fake" caliper, it is what it is... It's a "caliper cover"
Always cracks me up when guys say fake. I guess then putting carbon-fiber on your car gives you "fake" car parts. :rofl2

Brake caliper covers are like hubcaps.
That's the most sensible statement I've heard yet. :confused

I am just trying to find someone in Chicago area who can do the installation for me if I order the covers. I'll pay a fair labor price. I just don't have the patience or know-how to do it.
