What is your opinion on these wheels on an e38. They were OE on e34 M5, they came with "throwing star" wheel covers on them but I have always liked the look naked" without the covers. I have a black 740iL and want to try a wheel with a black center. I already own a set of these whlles for my e34 with new rubber. The rubber would have to be changed as they are too small for an e38. I would need to invest in some new 17" rubber to try them out. I also could get some throwing star covers for them to change the look from time to time. I don't know if they would look good on the e38 since it more of a luxury cruiser than a sports car.

I always liked those wheels naked - hated them with the throwing stars.
But 17" is a little small for these cars.

Not only are they not really an upgrade. The M-Systems wheels were not designed to support the weight of an e38. I would try to find a more suitable wheel replacement.

Didn't our cars come with 16" wheels standard?

Good point I never considered that although I think they would be sturdy enough to handle it. I am leaning against NOT using them and looking for some other 18"-20" wheel with a black center and alloy lip. Any suggestions?

We're talking from an aesthetic point of view, Marty, these cars really wake up and modernize on 18/19's+

I would have to agree, that's kind of what I was thinking but I wanted some other opinions and I got them. I will be looking for something else. I thought about painting the centers of my M-Pars but I really like them and would like to keep them to put back on if I get tired of whatever I put on. I just think black cars look great with black center rims with a alloy lip.
