On my iDrive there is an option of "locking doors if not opened". I have no idea how that works. I assumed it was if the doors were unlocked for a period of time, the car would lock itself. But it doesnt appear to do anything. What exactly does it do?

If you hit the unlock button on your remote fob, but don't open a door, it will re-lock itself after a short time.

If you select that option, will it also lock the doors if you fail to do so?

No. It only re locks them if you unlock with the remote but then don't open a door

Thanks. Seems like a weird function to put in. Would be more useful if the doors locked if you forgot to lock them. thanks.
