Recently, got an SES light, and got P0036 out of it. (I have stock downpipes, no tuning)

p0036 is Heater Control Circuit for Bank 1 Sensor 2

So, first thing I did was replace that sensor. Buttoned everything back up, and cleared the SES code. Drove around for a bit, and the SES light did not come back on. I shut off the car, and restarted it. SES light is back. Cleared it again, drove around again, and shut the car off (no SES light when I shut it off, and I did not restart.)

The next day, as soon as I turned the car on again, the SES light came back. So this time, I cleared it, went on a long drive, and then parked. Light is back after restarting. At this point I researched which fuse might be causing it (even though the code was only for one sensor) and it checked out.

So, started it back up and began monitoring the voltages for the Oxygen sensors. Bank 2 sensor 2 voltage looked OK, as it was fluctuating slightly around 0.68v. However, bank 1 sensor 2 remained at a steady 0.41v and never changed even slightly.

Wondering if maybe I got a bad replacement sensor, or if anyone's experienced something like this before. Each time the SES light came back, it was the same p0036 code. Car is a 2008 335i.

Check in your fuse boxes for blown fuse. the 02 sensor heaters are on a circuit that is also responsible for a heater in the intake system.

Ah, interesting. Do you do know if there are other fuseboxes or pertinent locations other than the one behind the glove box?

Hi. Sorry for bringing up an old thread but did you fix it? I am having the same issue but with bank 2.
I just had a clutch replaced so the post cat sensors were disconnected when removing the gearbox. It is a very weird coincidence that the sensor has gone off. Thanks,
Regards
