Transmission questions

So I was thinking if I did a transmission swap to 6 speed id need a 5, 30 not the 24 but is here a 5,30 6 speed !? And what year 540i did they come in for the 5ph30 6 speed

93-95 540i have 5HP30
95-96 740i/iL have 5HP30
some of the 8 series have the 5HP30

and of course E38 750iL, but I think it has a different bellhousing

Wait, What? Im confused here!! You think the 5hp30 is a 6 speed, im going to burst your bubble because its NOT!!!! Its a 5 speed transmission same as the 5hp24 but it can handle more torque and hp, and dont even think about swaping it because your just going to waste money and it may not be compatible with your current TCM and mounting. any number before the hp states how many gears the trans has, example
4hp26 (4 speed)
5hp30 (5 speed)
5hp24 (5 speed)
6hp26 (6 speed)
8hp60 (8 speed)

If your refeering to a MANUAL transmission the transmission is a getreg 420G 6 speed can be found in E34 540i and the E39 540i, they should direct bolt however you may need to to some modification to it inorder to bolt on to the drive shaft, add a extra pedal and modify the shifter...

So what would I be looking for to change my 12/6 740il over to a manual that will be direct bold on is it the 5 speed or 6 confused I thought it was a 6 speed
