Hey, so I bought my automatic '92 525i with 230k miles on it around two months or so ago and I have been having the trans program light up my dashboard once ever two weeks. I have been reading around and there seems to be a lot of different fixes for this issue...

With my car specifically it seems to only happen if sitting around in hot weather with no shade. It then barely accelerates until it gets to about 25mph and then drives normally.

Lastly, my car seems to shake vigorously everyday from 50-58mph. Under or over those speeds it drives completely normal though. I was told it could be a gear box, but I wanted to make sure.

Any thoughts or suggestions?? Any and all would be appreciated! Thank you!

Assume the position (bending over grabbing ankles). You'e about to buy a new transmission. Had mine rebuilt earlier this year because it was doing the same thing. Thought maybe a fluid change would help but once the tech dropped the pan he said something like "dude, your transmission is in bits in the pan." $1200 later it works like a charm even behind my S52.
