:helpI wonder if anybody could help me I had a little bit of misfortune with my BMW and had to change the radiator and one of the hoses and ever since low coolant level warning keeps on comming but only when the engine operates in its mormal temperature. What I mean I drive normally and after couple of miles low coolant level warning message appeares. I just changed coolant sensor just about an hour ago. i took the car for a spin and again the same thing 'check your coolant level'. Is there any air trap in the system?

is the red stick rising to be level with the fill hole? if you let the coolant run to low sometimes the float gets stuck at the bottom. If you bang the expansion tank with a screwdriver handle it might pop free and float up.

Hey thanx I'm gonna have a look tomorrow as I'm at work all day long today. By the way if this magnetic sensor is broken/missing can I get it separately? Or do I have to get new expansion tank?

I look in my reservoiur tank last night and I couldnt find the magnetic sensor I dont remember Ive ever seen it there but I thought I had air trap in the system so I tried to check it by removing trapped air and it worked. I repeated it this morning and I did about 170 miles to the cost and back and no 'check coolant level' warning. Thank you guys for help anyway

The magnetic sensor should be available separately. When changing most of my cooling system I bought a new non OEM sensor because I wanted everything to be new but ironically the new sensor didn't work while the old OEM was fine :)

my idea is that you need to call your local bmw dealer
the part is cheap enough from them...probably no more than 30quid
